About
Monika Hübscher is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Haifa, Israel, and a research associate at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Her research is dedicated to understanding and combating antisemitism on social media, focusing on topics such as Social Media Literacy against antisemitism and the unique manifestations of antisemitism in Germany. Monika's work has received recognition and support from prominent institutions, including scholarships from the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
In addition to her research, Monika is the co-editor of the book Antisemitism on Social Media, which was published in 2022, with a German edition released in 2024. She also actively shares her insights in public forums and writes for platforms such as The Conversation, The Times of Israel (blog), and taz.
Beyond publishing, Monika frequently leads lectures and workshops for social media professionals, policymakers, and representatives from ministries and governments across Israel, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and the USA.
Monika also serves in several advisory roles. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Combating Antisemitism and Intolerance (Serbia), a Board of Scholars member for Facing History and Ourselves, and sits on the Advisory Council of the World Jewish Congress Institute of Technology and Human Rights.
Currently, Monika leads the project “Social Media Literacy against Antisemitism,” focusing on empowering individuals to critically navigate social media and recognize antisemitic content.
